After sleeping in from our late night out the day before, dad and I decided to take the kids to go swimming while Baby A had his afternoon nap. We were headed to my grandma's friend's house, but some other people were there swimming. So, we went to Middletown's (about the size of Jefferson) park. It has a cool little splash pad, designed by my cousin, that the kids enjoy visiting. I think it is nice that a town that size offers this attraction for free. I remember playing at this park as a child (minus the splash pad) so it is neat to see my kids playing there, too. Of course, some of the playground equipment is new, but some of the old pieces are still there, too.
Then, the middles noticed the little creek. In they went! My parents never let me play in it, probably for good reason, but I said what the heck. They had a ball!
When Lenny got out she had a little leech stuck to her foot. I knew what it was, but I wasn't about to tell her! She thought it was a slug and tried to shake it off. Well, when it wouldn't come of she started to freak out. Being the kind of mother I am, I told Coco to pull it off. He said no. Then a little girl who had come over to investigate what all the noise was about offered to pull it off, but she couldn't get a hold of it. So, finally, I had to do it. Sigh.
After dinner-and I mean way after dinner because it doesn't get dark until 10 pm, dad gave the kids a fireworks show. They look forward to Papaw's fireworks each year. I hope he enjoys it as much as they do!

A leech! Oh my... I don't think I could have been the one to remove it.
I can tell they had a blast!
That fountain park looks like a lot of fun! Wish they'd had that when we were little...
