The kids and I were very excited to make the trip back home this summer. Indiana will always be home for me. I do admit, I was apprehensive about the drive by myself with four kids. But, the older ones really helped calm Baby A when he was unhappy. We took our time, eating lunch and dinner on the road, and finally made it to my parents about 12 hours after starting out. Not bad!
The next day, we went to Conner Prairie for the Fourth of July program. Conner Prairie is an interactive museum. We visited later in the week with the kids and I'll post about that later. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra performs throughout the summer. The Fourth show is the best though. Going is a tradition for our family. There have only been a few summers we have not gone in 16 years. Some years have been cold. Some rainy. This year was perfect! Mom had packed us dinner and the kids had plenty of time to play before the show. Coco and Lenny wore themselves out playing football in the vast green grass. I did lots of walking with Baby A in the stroller. Have I mentioned he isn't a sleeper in the stroller or the car seat? Yeah, it's fun. He finally fell asleep in my arms during the final song, the 1812 Overture-our favorite. Conner Prairie puts on a fantastic fireworks display. It seriously cannot be beat. I'm very thankful that mom and dad got us tickets to go this year! We had a wonderful time!
