Welcome to my first Top Ten Tuesday post! Today's theme is Why I Love Staying Home. If you don't stay home (that'll be me soon!) then you can write about Why I Love My Job instead. I'll walk you through how to link up to Top Ten Tuesday after my list. :-)
10. Home cooked meals every night
I don't know when the last time was that we ate out because I was too tired to fix anything for supper. I also can't recall the last time we had corn dogs, chicken patties, or the like for dinner. I love being able to feed my family right!
9. Reading during breakfast
I like being able to catch up on Facebook and blogs in the mornings!
8. Errands don't have to wait
It is so nice to not have to do all of my errands on Saturday or weeknights. I've found I'm able to think through my needs more clearly and make lists so I get exactly what I need and not impulse shop!
7. Sweats and no make up
How nice to just be comfy and not have to worry about what you look like. Refreshing.
6. Lunch at home
Nuff said.
5. My brain is fully concentrated on home
I don't have extra junk to worry about. Just my kids, husband, and home. Ahhh.
4. House work is done
A clean house is important to me. I like things to be picked up and clean. I've enjoyed being able to get this done in a timely manner. It has helped me feel less stressed. Really. If there are dirty dishes in the sink or a carpet that needs vacuumed, I cannot relax until the job is done and things are clean. I have my mom to thank for that. My house won't ever be as clean as hers, but I'm glad she instilled the importance (inadvertently I'm sure) of a well kept house in me.
3. Giving Baby A his bath before his morning nap
I'm able to spend time giving the baby his bath each morning. It is our time. We talk and sing and read and then I feed him a bottle and put him down. It is priceless.
2. Being able to spend real time with my children
While working, I tend to rush my children because I feel rushed. Hurry up and eat. Take your shower quickly. No time for a book tonight. Etc, etc. I. hate. it. Since I've been home I've been able to play with Coco. Eat lunch with him. He is at one of my most favorite ages right now and I've loved just being able to savor it.
1. Being rested
Even though Baby A is still getting up at night, I am much more rested than when I'm working 40 hours a week. Rest is huge for me. In a dream life, I would be able to sleep 10 hours a night. I know. That's a lot. But, I have always required a lot of sleep. Being home everyday let's me get the things done that I want/need to get done around the house. I don't have to stress about laundry or cooking or cleaning or errands. I'm able to devote my time to what I really want to do-being a mom 100% (and a domestic goddess!).
I've given thanks each day that I have been granted the opportunity to stay home. For as long as I can remember all I've ever wanted to be was a mom. I work because I have to. I enjoy my job, but I don't like the time it pulls me away from home. February 1st is looming over my head. It will be here before I'm ready. We are still unsure what to do with the boys and we had hoped that wouldn't be an issue. It is. Jeff's unemployment has put a hiccup in all of our plans. But we know that we aren't the ones with the master plan (thank goodness!) and this is the road we are destined to walk during this season. So, I will strive to gather things from this list that I can apply to my life when I return to being a full-time working mom. But for now, I thank God that I can write a post titled Why I Love Staying Home.
