She really was the best dog. Anyone who met her agreed. She was so gentle. Stayed close to the house, but would walk with us if we went to the mailbox or for a run. She was protective and kind to other animals. She loved to swim. It will not be the same here without her for sure.
We had her since she was 4. A coworker couldn't keep her anymore. Her grandfather was a lab used in ads for a rifle I think. Her previous owners had tried to breed her, but she wanted nothing to do with that! An independent woman! She fit into our family seamlessly and we loved her even though we aren't the kind of people who go crazy over our pets.
We hadn't expected her to live much longer. She was 11. She had developed some outward growing tumors and even removing them wouldn't have kept the others that she most likely had from growing, too. She was uncomfortable. The middles have cried all morning. And I'm finding it hard, too, just knowing what a good dog she was and that we'll never have another like her.
