One of the things Lenny has been asking to do for years is scuba dive. I started looking into it for her when she was 8, but found out that she needed to be 10 before she could start. Well, I had a big surprise for my 10 year old today!
We didn't quite get the reaction we were hoping for, but she really was excited! After I filled out some paperwork, her instructor went over the equipment, hand signals, and other things she needed to know before she hit the water. He was so patient with her the entire time and we were so pleased that he was a part of her first time scuba diving! They meshed really well. She told him that it was a great surprise and that she never thought it (scuba) would happen in her whole life!
After her "school work" it was time to get fitted for her equipment, get changed, and get in the water!
Once she got in and got her tank on, she was off! No hesitation. No nervousness. This girl was born to "breathe under water!" That was the best thing of the day she said.
Her instructor saw that she was so comfortable that he even taught her the first 2 skills she will learn to become a certified diver. How awesome is that! They stayed in the water about an hour and she was in her element.
I'm so happy that we were able to make one of Lenny's biggest wishes come true! We are looking into getting her open water certified in 2013!

What a cool experience, and I'm glad I was there to witness it!
