Basketball Business

Talk about being a sorry blogger.  Sorry, folks.  My mom is in town and she reminded me that I have not posted anything on Mixon Mania in forever!  So, how about I post a little over the break.  :)

The middles are playing Upward basketball at the church around the corner.  Have your kids ever been involved with Upward?  Lizzy played basketball and even cheered (true) when she was in first through third grades.  It is a great program and they do a fantastic job of making sports what it should be at that age-FUN!  Of course, I love that it teaches truth, too.

Neither one of the middles has played basketball before and they are both loving it!  Lenny has displayed a great knack for defense and Coco hustles his little hiney off.  They are both fun to watch! Photobucket
I wish this big picture didn't turn out blurry.  Check out Coke's hands and that he is airborne!  Ha!  Totally in the moment!  An announcer calls out each kid's name as they enter the court.  How about that for making a kid feel special?  I love it!

Sometimes Coco plays guard, but we are working on passing the ball and not being a ball hog.  He isn't afraid to get in there and shoot, too!  And there is always time for chatting it up with the ladies. Photobucket
As with any sport we are a part of, it is a family event.  Baby A does great as long as we keep him fed and he has toys to play with and Daddy to hold him when he gets tired.  Lizzy is great because she has her NEW iphone!  She earned it for making all A's this semster (Spanish, Math, and AP Human Geography) and a B (Chemistry) this semester.  The girl worked her tail off attending tutoring during lunch and afterschool all while playing varsity volleyball and swimming.  We are so proud of her efforts!

Coco loves to cheer on his big sister in the way of giving her high fives during warm ups which lead to him dancing and/or laying down in the middle of the court as well.  Sigh.  That kid.

Lenny's games are much more agressive than Coco's as many of the kids that age have played before.  But, she is hanging in there and having fun which is the most important thing.

So, if you want to catch us on Saturday mornings the next few weeks, you'll find us at the gym!
