I recently found that PBS has full episodes on their website. I was saddened a few years ago when I learned that they were taking Mister Rogers off of the air, but I'm thrilled that my kids can still get to know him through the shows they have on the website. I even used part of the episode with Eric Carle this week with my kindergarten classes.
I have to admit, tears usually fill my eyes when reading about or watching Mister Rogers. I'm thankful he was my neighbor.
watching after school
It's you I like,
It's not the things you wear,
It's not the way you do your hair--
But it's you I like
The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you--
Not the things that hide you,
Not your toys--
They're just beside you.
But it's you I like--
Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings
Whether old or new.
I hope that you'll remember
Even when you're feeling blue
That it's you I like,
It's you yourself,
It's you, it's you I like.
Don't you wish every kid had someone to sing this song to them and mean it?

ahhhh, what a lovely post! what a great show, and you truly were his biggest fan! love the photo.
I loved Mr. Rogers, too. He was an amazing father figure when I really needed one, and I wanted nothing more than to live in his town. Thanks for the memories and for letting me know he's still out there!
Sweet sweet post!!! XO
