I've been tossing ideas around in my head of how to write this post. What can I say to stir people? How can I reach hearts? Well, all I can do is share my heart and story and pray that your heart might be touched. More importantly, that it might break.
Four years ago today, Jeff and I sent in our application in the hopes of adopting a little boy from Ethiopia. We were ready to grow our family and felt called to give a child who was already on the earth, and alone, the love of a mom, dad, sisters, and brother.
Bottom line, we said yes and the rest was taken care of. Never in my life have I had to step out in faith as much. Never in my life have I felt more dependent upon God. Never in my life have I had such little control. And it was hard. And it changed me forever. Thank God.
Most of you know our sweet Baby A either in person or you're a follower (thank you, thank you) of our little blog here. You know what a beauty he is. How funny he can be. What a little gabster he is. How he loves vacuum cleaners and singing.
But, did you know this is the first look we got of him?
That at 5 weeks old he was 5 lbs?
The proof is in the pudding people. Kids need love. Kids need homes. Kids need families.
This boy, our boy, deserved no less.
It is overwhelming that there are millions, millions, more like A right now all over the world. Overwhelming is actually an understatement. But, the trick is to not get hung up on the millions. The key is to think of one. ONE.
I read this today on Katie's blog:
His perfect timing, now. Now is where He has called us. And we are just not ready yet. We need to clean up the house a bit and pray a little more and seek more counsel and we don’t know how to do that yet and oh, we have our excuses. And God says, “I’m here now, and I am ok with the mess because I am here for the messy.”
Are you ready to act now? Are you ready to say yes and step out into the unknown, knowing, trusting that the rest will be taken care of? Are you ready to help ONE?

I was already a teary-eyed mess reading this post and then I saw that you posted my blog and now I'm bawling. Thank you! I was just thinking this morning that my other two 'pregnancies' were planned but this one was a complete surprise. rofl God is BIG in this adoption and I'm so excited to see how it will unfold. I'm also a giant bundle of nerves worrying about the money, handing it over to God, worrying about the money, handing it over to God...you get the picture. He's got this. I know He does. Friends like you show me that every single day. Thank you!
Beautiful. Thank you for sharing your heart! Love you!

I had never seen A's first pictures! wow! incredible! thank you for being such an inspiration to us as we know that "we need to get our house in order, seek more counsel, have more money ...etc" but step out on faith.
