It's Always Something

As Coco and I were leaving school this afternoon, he forgot something in my office and ran back to get it.  I was on the phone with Jeff, frustrated because I wanted to get out of that building and Coco always seems to drag his feet or has to run back for something, when I heard Coco crying.  Huffing, I stormed back through the office and rounded the corner to see the art teacher handing kleenexes to him while he held a handful of bloody kleenexes to his mouth.  Yes, that is how long it took me.  Someone else had gotten to him first.  He was a bloody, crying mess and I couldn't really figure out what had happened, but saw that his front teeth were not in good shape.  A sweet 5th grader and her mom got me some ice and more paper towels while I tried to figure out what to do.  I gently pulled on one of his teeth that was barely hanging, but it wouldn't budge.  I even had him pull.  At that point I decided to head to our dentist.  Thankfully, they agreed to see him (I don't know what I would have done if they hadn't!).  By the time (about 10 min.) we got to the office, the bleeding and crying had stopped.  He was plum worn out, falling asleep.  Then I started wondering if he hit his head!  We got inside and had to wait awhile.  In that time I found out that he had walked into a wall because he was walking with his eyes closed.  !!  He did not hit his head, but was just exhausted from the accident.  The dentist checked him out and decided the tooth needed to come out.  He gave him a topical and pulled it out.  He suggested doing the same to the other top front tooth, but I started to panic a bit.  I'm not ready for him to be completely toothless yet!  He said we could let it come out on its own and it most likely will in the next few days.  His gum is also bruised and will be sore for a few days.  Other than that, he is just fine!

When we were finished, I called my mom to tell her and she said, "It's always something," which is exactly what I had said to Jeff when I called him back on the way to the dentist!

I'm thankful Coco is okay and glad for this day to be over!

Watching cartoons and waiting on the dentist.

My sweet big boy!
