My 2 Year Old Son

Is a mess! But aren't all 2 year old boys? I am really enjoying being home this summer with him and the other three. A friend told me the other day on the phone how much happier I sound during the summer. It is true. I am. This is my passion-being a mom and a wife. Even though it is what I live for, golly gee, this summer has been exhausting (my husband and kids can atest!). Namely because of this sweet face!

A few examples. Last weekend I ended up taking the older 3 to their all day swim meet. Jeff had intended to do it, but our well pump was struck by lightning the night before during a storm and he had to stay home and get all that straightened out. Around noon I got a call from him asking what I had done to the child because he hadn't stopped talking all morning. :) Then yesterday at his yearly check up with our pediatrician, she said right off, "Well, I guess I don't have to ask about his language!" The stinker talks and is on the go from the minute he wakes up until I walk down the stairs after putting him in bed at night. What a blessing! But, that means that I have to be on my mom game all day.

A's favorite "toy" is a cell phone. Appropriate, right? We have a few old ones laying around as well as toy ones and one has to be in his sight all day. "Assie's bye bye," is what he says.

He also asks about 10 times a day, "Where's Dada? Audrey? Avery? Aiden? Neena? KeeKee? Mamaw? Papaw? Spot?"

We found out at the beach that the best thing was to take him outside first thing in the morning after breakfast and let him go until lunchtime. That has been true since we've been home, too. After breakfast, he and I head outside allowing the other 3 to sleep in until they are ready to get up.

He loves to chase the cat (and has 3 scratch marks on his face to prove it), play with the "bouncy balls", and sit on Jeff's lawn mower. He also loves it when Lenny and Coco make it outside and ride their scooters. Chasing them while they ride is so fun! This week Lizzy taught him to swim. He wears his arm floaties and kicks, jumps off the steps, and goes down the little slide all by himself. This is all a little nerve racking for me, not because I'm worried about him in the water, but because he still has tubes in his ears and the silly putty like ear plugs we have are always being pulled out by his little fingers!

He is still a little guy-25th percentile in height and weight, but I think he is ahead of the game physically. He can run like the wind and likes to jump and dance and color and all that good stuff! He also has a pretty singing voice and we love to hear him sing.

Lastly, he knows he is funny and cute and that we all just think the world of him. The faces he can make at dinner when all eyes are on him are just the best ever! So funny! We are going to have our hands full with this one! Actually, we already do!
