We had the most wonderful vacation last week at Tybee Island. We have never really taken a family beach vacation or a big vacation of any sort for that matter. But, we plan on going to Tybee every year from here on out! We were so lucky to have Mamaw, Papaw, Aunt Kee, Uncle Jeff, and Grandma Shirley, go with us. Avery spent hours and hours in the ocean with either her dad or Jeff. Our fearless Audrey would put on the life jacket and keep swimming out farther and farther until someone stopped her. Aiden even spent an afternoon napping on the beach. We ate at some great places on Tybee (although don't waste your time with the Hunter House) and explored the island on our bikes. We were across the street from the library and a short walk to the beach. Everyone's favorite spot was the porch where there was always a breeze. Dad and I both finished a book while we were there. Oh, to have the time to read was fabulous! Avery won a match of Disney Scene It and Carrie won a round of Trivial Pursuit Pop Culture followed closely by Jeff M. Jeff and Jeff got to play a round of golf and the boys consumed lots of beer throughout the week. I made a shabby pitcher of sangria, but enjoyed my cosmos one night out to eat. It was truly a relaxing vacation.
The girls, Jeff, and I visited the Tybee Marine Science Center and got to see a few animals. We also took a walk out on the public pier where quite a few people were fishing. On the way back off the pier Audrey saw a crane and said, "That must be the biggest fishing pole in the world, Daddy."
Only 364 days until our next beach vacation! Maybe we'll stay 2 weeks next year!
